The Hotel Podcast

August 24, 2016 By Katerina Cronstedt Leave a Comment

I have been working in the hotel industry for over ten years and loved it from day one. Catering for human kinds basic needs (according to Maslow) – a safe place to rest, access to food and water – is an honor and a privilege.

In April I left Moscow and Katerina City where I have worked since 2006 and in June I finished my engagement in Katerina Hotel Orlando, since then I have been contemplating on my next move in the hotel sphere. I definitely will continue working with a concept we started over 4 years ago – Hotelean, but what can I do right now to stay in touch besides reading the news?

Since I am a keen podcast listener (here are my favorites), in the beginning of summer I searched for hotel podcasts and found.. three.

One of them is Fuel Hotel Marketing (love it) and the other is Hospitality Academy (loved episode 17: “Improving Housekeeping Labor Productivity”) and BookGreener podcast (niche) and of course there are some hotels that have their own podcasts, but nowhere can you listen to the movers and shakers in the hotel industry, the hotel managers, the hotel architects and designers, the middle management that always have amazing stories to share.

So I wanted more and it turns out I just have to do it myself.  Yey! In my planning are many ideas and I will share them later here and on the podcast specific website: The Hotel Podcast.

If you have any ideas, thoughts or questions – just put them in the comments below and I will answer.

Thanks for reading this!

Ok so I talked to the kids about the schedule and they though it was a great idea. They even suggested and wrote down the activities the wanted to be engaged in!  #fail  ???

Summertime daily schedule for kids

June 24, 2016 By Katerina Cronstedt 1 Comment

So, I like to plan.

If things don’t turn out as planned, at least we can try to understand why. If it turnes out better than planned – good for you!

If not, think, ask, tweek, change and try again.

This daily schedule is just a guide, but it gives me and important upderstanding that I did not have before I made this schedule:

  1. I plan to feed the kids seven (7!) times per day. 3 main meals, 2 bigger snacks like a sandwich or a yoghurt with nuts and 2 smaller snacks like apple slices. Now that I know what and when I can plan a menu and a shopping list.
  2. I plan to organize 4 activities per day. I had in mind swimming school, arts/drawing time (I get to draw to too – yey!) mini school where we count, learn to read and write and another physical activity, tennis or just throwing ball around the house. Must check swim school…
  3. 3 times screen time. To much? Is one of them mandatory educational? If yes, what app? Have to think about it.
  4. 3 occations of helping out at home seams good to me.

Now the best thing is that I can show this to the kids and (hopefully) get their buy in! Wish me luck 😉
